White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed on Wednesday that the United States is engaging in direct talks with the terrorist group Hamas. Among the hostages still being held in Gaza there is at least one American—21-year-old Eden Alexander. After meeting with eight former hostages on Wednesday, President Trump posted, “Shalom Hamas means ‘hello and goodbye’—you can choose. Release all the hostages, now, not later, and immediately return all of the dead bodies of the people you murdered or it is OVER for you.” The president went on to say, “I am sending Israel everything it needs to finish the job, not a single Hamas member will be safe if you don’t do as I say.
