Egyptian national Mohamed Sabry Soliman interrupted a vigil for the return of Israeli hostages still being held in Gaza when he reportedly yelled, “Free Palestine,” and attacked people in Boulder, Colorado on Sunday. Mark Michalek, the FBI agent in charge of the Denver Field Office, quickly made it clear that the attack is being considered a terrorist attack. Solomen, now in custody, used a makeshift flamethrower to throw an incendiary device into the crowd, injuring 8 people and leaving 1 in critical condition. This attack took place little more than a week after two embassy staffers were killed outside of a Washington, DC museum, with the suspect from Chicago yelling, “I did it for Palestine.” See below for more detail on this story.
