Iranian official Kamal Kharazi stated on Friday that his country could produce nuclear weapons. The supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, would simply have to declare it necessary. The current lack of nuclear arms is because of an undocumented edict from Khamenei. Kharazi’s statement follows tensions with Israel, which have been heightened by recent Israeli airstrikes on Iranian missile factories that followed attacks targeting Israeli civilians.
