God of War

3 Scriptural Strategies To Pray for Israel

Israel will see the victory in its war with Hamas! How do we know this to be true? Because it is an exercise in futility to think you can fight against God and win, or to think you can wipe out the Jewish nation. It is impossible for the enemy to win. Why?

Because the Jews belong to God and He will fight FOR them.

In 2 Samuel 7:8, God refers to the people of Israel as “My people.” In Deuteronomy 20:1-4, He says, “When you go out to fight your enemies and you face horses and chariots and an army greater than your own, do not be afraid. The LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, is with you! When you prepare for battle, the priest must come forward to speak to the troops. He will say to them, ‘Listen to me, all you men of Israel! Do not be afraid as you go out to fight your enemies today! Do not lose heart or panic or tremble before them. For the LORD your God is going with you! He will fight for you against your enemies, and he will give you victory!’”

Because the Jews belong to God and He will fight THROUGH them.

“And I have been with you wherever you have gone, and have cut off all your enemies from before you, and have made you a great name, like the name of the great men who are on the earth (2 Samuel 7:9, NKJV).

Because the Jews belong to God, and He gave them the land where they live.

“And I will provide a homeland for my people Israel, planting them in a secure place where they will never be disturbed. Evil nations won’t oppress them as they’ve done in the past” (2 Samuel 7:10).

Our God is a God of war. In fact, the Hebrew word Chumash means “God is the Master of war.” While we don’t always think of God in this way, He will fight through people who believe in Him; He will fight for the nation of Israel. “The LORD is a man of war; the LORD is His name” (Exodus 15:3, NKJV). God uses His Name to do battle.

God is calling us to join in the fight of faith for the nation of Israel—and to use His Name. He is calling us to pray for our covenant brothers and sisters as they defend themselves. He’s also calling us to pray for the hostages who need to be returned to their families.

Here are 3 Scriptural Strategies To Pray for Israel. Declare them in faith until we all celebrate the victory together.

1. Psalm 24:7-10 (NKJV): The Lord is mighty in battle.

“Lift up your heads, O you gates! And be lifted up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O you gates! Lift up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, He is the King of glory. Selah.”

As we pray for the nation of Israel, we will witness the Lord strong in battle. The eyes of the world are darkened to this. They don’t see God in any of this, but we do. Hamas is using the Palestinians as human shields, but their eyes will be opened, and they will see God move!

2. Isaiah 40:15-17 (NKJV): The nations surrounding Israel are before God as nothing.

“Behold, the nations are as a drop in a bucket, and are counted as the small dust on the scales; look, He lifts up the isles as a very little thing. And Lebanon is not sufficient to burn, nor its beasts sufficient for a burnt offering. All nations before Him are as nothing, and they are counted by Him less than nothing and worthless.”

This passage includes all the nations that are against Israel, protesting against Israel, calling for a pause and calling for death to the Jews; and the nations saying, “Death to Israel. Death to America” (see also Psalm 2:1-5; Isaiah 42:13). When you see protests and hear of Jews anywhere in the world being threatened, declare God’s words, “My people Israel,”and remember that those nations are but a drop in the bucket.

3. Psalm 3:1-8 (KJV): God will save His people Israel.

“LORD, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me. Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah. But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head. I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah. I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me. I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about. Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly. Salvation belongeth unto the LORD: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.”

On Oct. 27, 2023, a word from the Lord through Kenneth Copeland said, “Don’t you be concerned about My state of Israel. Those are My people!” Let’s remember this as we wholeheartedly and unashamedly support and pray for the state of Israel, taking our stand of faith on God’s Word.
