Butker NFL Merch Surpasses Kelce In Sales After Bold May Speech

Harrison Butker, a devout Christian-Catholic and kicker for the Kansas City Chiefs, achieved a milestone recently by surpassing teammate, Travis Kelce, in NFL merchandise sales this spring.

Butker fearlessly delivered a commencement address at Benedictine College in May of this year. His bold 20-minute address stirred controversy, as he spoke against Pride Month, abortion, and President Joe Biden’s handling of the pandemic.

In an excerpt from his speech which aired on VICTORY News, Butker stated, “Our Lord, along with countless followers were all put to death for their adherence to [their] teachings. The world around us says that we should keep our beliefs to ourselves whenever they go against the tyranny of diversity, equity, and inclusion. We fear speaking truth because now, unfortunately, truth is in the minority.”

Despite the backlash, Butker recently signed a four-year, $26.5 million contract, making him the highest paid kicker in NFL history. In addition to surpassing the merch sales of his teammate Kelce, a fan favorite and one of the greatest NFL tight ends of all time, Butker was also among the top 50 NFL merch sellers in recent weeks.

In the weeks following his speech, Butker has faced much criticism from major news outlets, celebrities, and the like; however, he has stood by his statements. A great reminder for Christians and conservatives everywhere of the power of one person standing up for truth— it has a ripple effect that turns into a wave.

In this case, a red wave.

A red wave of Chiefs jerseys, that is.
