Who Is Hamas?

The word Hamas is front-page news. Thus, knowing exactly who Hamas is and what it represents is very important when weighing the things heard in the news. Hamas, founded in 1987, is a paramilitary wing of the Palestinian branch of the Muslim Brotherhood, founded by Sheikh Ahmed Yassin and Sheikh Abdallah Azzam. Azzam is known as the Father of Global Jihad and was the mentor of Osama Bin Laden, who was known for creating Al Qaeda. The doctrines of Hamas, Al Qaeda and ISIS all base their teachings on the teachings of Azzam. Therefore, Hamas has the same origins, beliefs, and goals as ISIS and Al Qaeda. Hamas openly calls for genocide against Jews and the eradication of Israel. Hamas is also the democratically elected and preferred leadership of the people of Gaza.
