Flashpoint: Wars and Rumors of Wars (Oct. 19, 2023)

The Oct. 19 broadcast of FlashPoint included an opportunity for the FlashPoint Army to consider supportingYatar, an organization directly linked to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) that is working on the front lines in Israel to protect the Israeli people from terrorist attacks. Yatar’s Director of Overseas Operations Zoe Marks explained that Yatar is a volunteer-based organization funded by financial support. Many of the volunteers are currently serving in the IDF. Yatar serves as the front line of defense with IDF along the borders of Egypt, Judea, Samaria and Gaza. It is equipped with ATVs capable of moving at high speeds over rough terrain. Host Gene Bailey compared the volunteer spirit connected to this unit to patriotism in the United States, but noted that it is on a deeper level. Marks shared, “It is an unspoken consensus. In a time of need, everyone is just there for one another.”

As war continues in Israel and Ukraine, the U.S. State Department issued a worldwide alert stating that “due to increased tension in various locations around the world, potential for terrorist attacks, demonstrations or violent actions against U.S. citizens, exercise increased caution.” This also brought attention to the ongoing terrorist threat on American soil due to the open border. Numbers are not concrete, but it is estimated that during the Biden administration, nearly 1.6 million people crossed the border who are not being tracked. That is a very high number of potential terrorists on American soil.

In addition, there are concerns surrounding the broader pro-Palestinian protests that continue to erupt, including one on Oct. 18 in Washington, D.C. However, this protest was led into the Cannon House Building by Rep. Rashida Tlaib. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene was watching the protest from a balcony. She said that it was clear that the protesters were organized and funded. Capitol police ended up making several arrests. Greene wrote a letter to Capitol Police stating, “I am formally requesting that the United States Capitol Police preserve all video surveillance footage, photographic evidence, police reports, and arrest records from all House Office Buildings on October 18, 2023.”

Meanwhile, President Biden addressed the nation. He spoke of Israel and the Palestinian people, then shared his plan for asking Congress to issue up to $60 billion in funds for Israel and Ukraine.
